General
A: Unpacking support can be tailored to the scope written into your move plan. Options may include partial unpacking of selected items, standard unpacking of cartons, or additional organization support when agreed in advance. Placement of items, disposal of cartons and packing paper, and debris removal are separate services unless they are specifically included in your written estimate or move documents. Ask LVV to confirm the unpacking tasks, charges, and exclusions before moving day.
A: For interstate moves, Full Value Protection and Released Value Protection are mover-liability options, not insurance. Released Value limits the mover's liability to no more than $0.60 per pound per article and must be selected in writing; otherwise Full Value Protection applies and a valuation charge may be assessed. For Texas-only moves, the liability level is stated in the written moving services contract. Optional third-party coverage may also be available through MovingInsurance.com. Review the policy's coverage, exclusions, deductibles, limits, and claims terms before purchasing.
A: Any deposit requirement, payment schedule, accepted payment method, and refund terms should be stated in your written estimate or moving services contract before you book. Do not make a payment unless the amount and recipient match your LVV documents. Ask LVV to confirm when each payment is due and what documentation you will receive.
A: For Texas moves, the pricing method, included services, and applicable charges are stated in the written estimate and moving services contract. Pricing may be hourly, based on weight and distance, or a fixed amount depending on the move. Access conditions, packing, storage, stairs, long carries, schedule changes, or added services can affect the total when they are not included in the original scope. Review the documents and approve any changes in writing.
A: Pricing depends on the route, shipment size or weight, distance, access conditions, and the packing, storage, or other services included. For interstate moves, the written estimate and bill of lading state the pricing basis and charges. For Texas moves, the written moving services contract states the pricing method and included services. LVV may request an in-home or permitted virtual survey before preparing the estimate. Final charges depend on the estimate type and any authorized changes to the move scope.
A: LVV can provide full or partial packing based on the household and the services listed in the written estimate. Depending on the move, packing charges may be based on shipment weight or on the number and type of containers used. Packing can include furniture, artwork, dishes, and other household belongings; specialty items should be identified in advance. Confirm the materials, items to be packed, charges, unpacking, and debris-removal terms in writing.
A: The estimate type depends on the move and the services requested. Interstate moves may use a binding or non-binding estimate, and the rules for charges and changes differ by estimate type. Texas moves use a written estimate and moving services contract that state the pricing method and applicable charges. The inventory, access conditions, route, packing, storage, and other requested services affect the scope. LVV will identify the estimate type and included services in writing before the move.
A: A local move generally means a shorter-distance move within the same city or metro area, but there is no single universal mileage definition. A Texas intrastate move has both origin and destination within Texas and is governed by Texas moving rules. An interstate move crosses state lines, or is part of transportation between states, and is governed by federal household-goods rules. The pricing method and services for each move are stated in the written estimate and move documents.
