  3. Large Upfront Deposits – Legitimate movers typically require payment upon delivery, not before.

  4. Unrealistically Low Estimates – If the quote is significantly lower than others, it could be a scam.

  5. No On-Site or Virtual Inspection – Movers that give estimates without assessing your belongings may add hidden fees later.

  6. Vague or Blank Contracts – Always read the contract carefully; avoid companies that refuse to provide details in writing.

  7. Name Changes or Multiple Identities – Frequent name changes can indicate a history of complaints or fraud.

  8. Lack of a Bill of Lading – Federal law requires movers to provide this official shipping document.
